Still on a bad run

Well, what can I say. The bad run continues. I finally won a $15 SNG yesterday morning,, but since then, all I've had is extremely bad luck.

Here is the report from my last 3 SNGs.

$20 SNG at Stars. I'm 3rd in chips with 4 people left. Ah yes, the bubble. The bubble hates me.

So I hit 2 pair on the flop. I should have raised all-in. When the ten comes on the turn, I figure he has another one in his hand, and I'm drawing real thin. Imagine my surprise when the cards flip over and he shows AJ. He called my flop raise with a gutshot and 1 over.

The next SNG was a $15 Turbo. I got disconnected from PokerStars, and lost my connection for the next half hour, so obviously, I got busted out of that one.

Then this morning, another $15 Turbo SNG. 4 people left. Me and another dude are the short stacks. Blinds are big, so I have to play a hand real soon.

ok, so he was the big stack, and only needed to call 800 more. I guess I can justify that call when you have so many chips. And of course, his 4 outer comes on the river.

I've been rivered so many times lately, its unbelievable.

Oh, and a couple SNGs before that, my AA got beat by KK again when all the money got in PF.

On the bonus front, I deposited $100 over at sportingbet.com. $100 for 500 contributed raked hands, and you only have to play the .05/.10 NL games. I've received $30 of the bonus so far.

Players there are really bad too.

Check out this hand from this morning.

I'm on the button with AK. there are like 5 limpers, so I raise it up to 7x the BB. I get a bunch of callers.
Pot is $3.50.
Flop comes 9,2,2.
I bet $2 and get one caller.
Turn is a 5.
I bet the rest of my stack, which is a little over half the pot, and he calls (has me covered).
He shows the powerful hand of A8.
Guess what comes on the river. Yep, an 8.

I know I can't be results orientated. I just have to worry about making the right decisions. I kind of laugh off all of these bad beats, but deep down inside, I want to punch my F*(&*in monitor.

last week was my worst poker week by far. I lost about $250 playing poker. I did get about $180 in bonus money, so my bankroll hasn't dropped too much. its hovering around the $1100 mark.

Hopefully this blog will stop being a bad beat blog soon.

Bad Poker Day

Well, I am in the middle of my worst poker day in a long long time.

I'm down about $80 right now.

I've gone out 6th in the two $15 SNGs I've played.

In the first one, I was 2nd in chips. The guy to my left, was the leader. Blinds were 75/150.

I'm in the SB with [Kh] [Kc]. For some reason, he goes all-in in front of me. I gotta call, right?

I do, and he flipps over [Ah] [Qh]

A on the flop, gets his flush on the turn, and I'm drawing dead.

Next one, I am below starting stack, about T1100. I'm in MP and get [As] [Ks]

I raise to 300 (3x BB). Dude behind me is only caller.

Flop comes [Qh] [4s] [6c]

Pot is 800, and we both have 800 left. I go all-in, and he calls.

He has [Ac] [Kc]

We have same hand, with one of our suit on the flop.

I don't have to tell you what the turn and river brought. You can probably guess .

And my ring games (limit) are going really bad. I am getting good starting hands, but none of them are holding up. Frustrating as all hell

4 losing days in a row

Still in a funk. 4 losing days in a row now. I dont think I've had a streak like this in a while. I did clear my Stars Bonus on Sunday, so with that bonus, I am up a whopping $6 this week.

In the 4 SNGs I played this morning, I took 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th. Bleh

In my 3rd place finish, I went out with 77 vs K4o. he hit a K on the river.

In my 4th place finish, I lost with AQ vs 66.

The flops are just not hitting me.

I took some money out of Absolute, and deopsited at Stars again for thier reload, so I have another $100 to clear. That's 100 SNGs (with $1 fees). I think I can do this in a month. I'm still not playing ring games there.

I have $80 out of $120 left to clear at absolute for thier reload. When I am done with the Absolute, I'll be putting money back into BoDog. Or maybe, i 'll open a Party account now. I did a pokersourceonline promotion, so I have 9000 PSO points. I can get Party Poker gift certificates with those points. 9000 points would be $90.

I'm in a funk

I'm in a funk. In my last 12 or so $15 T SNGs, I have only three 1sts, and one 3rd. Lots of 4ths. Lots. Some 5ths. I'm still showing a small profit, but my ROI in these last SNGs are probably only 5-10%. Not good.

I just can't win any coinflips. And hands where I am dominating never win either. There have been so many hands where I am ahead with AQ vs A7 and a 7 comes on the river. There was one today where I had a dominating hand with KJ vs JT and the fricking board gives us a full house for a split pot. I've probably only won 10% of the hands where I am ahead 70/30 PF in the last week.

Plus, I am not doing so hot at ring games over at Absolute. Lots of 2nd best hands for me.

here are the hands I've gone out on in my last couple SNGs:

AA VS KK, he flopped quads

Q3 vs AT (300/600) im SB and M = 2

K9s vs 22 (200/400) im SB and M = 1.8. he flopped trips

A7 vs JQ; Q on river

A9 vs 82; me = short stack

66 vs K4; 2 left. I flop trips, 4th club on river

AQ vs 77

A3 vs Q3; Q on river (100/200) Im BB, he sb and calls, I re-raise all-in (prolly 6x BB) and he calls

66 vs JT (I was short stack again. he went all-in UTG with JT and I called)

AK vs 88 ( he min-raised, I pushed. I was 3rd in chips with 4 left, but short stack had an M of 1, so I should have waited until he was gone to be pushin. bad play by me)

A7 vs QJ ( 4 people left and I was short stack)

arggg, coinflips

Not much poker this week. I'm back at work, so no poker during the day, and I've been so tired at night, I just don't geel like playing.

I've played four $15 turbo SNGs, and was 3rd, 1st, 5th, and 3rd.

Dispite those decent results, I am losing a lot of my coinflips lately. I'm also losing a lot of All-in hands when I am ahead 70/30. I think I've lost my last 3 or 4 hands where I have a dominting hand (AQ vs A5 or something like that).

It sucks.

I'm back with a new addition!

I'm back.

Not soon after I posted my last post, my wife called and told me it was baby time. We had a son just a few hours after that. I look forward to teaching him the game of Hold 'em :)

I've been able to play some poker while I've been home on paternity. My son and I have played some late night poker a few times while he has been awake. I cleared a $65 bonus at BoDog. And made a good $100 in poker profit doing it. I am almost done with my $75 bonus at pokerstars. I only do SNGs there as I refuse to play ring games there when the ring games at other places are far more lucrative.

I deposited $600 at Absolute for thier 20% bonus. I've cleared $20 of the bonus, and have made almost $150 playing NL ring. Man, the players their are bad. About 75% of the players only buy in for the minimum (which is $10 at the .10/.25 and $20 at the .25/.50). And there are a lot of people who love the min re-raise. What is up with that?

I think my bankroll is hovering around $1,200 now.

Wacky Poker Weekend!

Oh man, what a wacky wacky poker weekend.

On Friday I withdrew some money from PokerStars, and deposited $650 at BoDog. They have a 10% bonus, which isn't that great, but I really like thier site. The graphics and speed are awesome, and the play there is really fishy. I've done well in the past there playing in the SNGs.

I made that deposit anticipating a good night of Poker for Saturday night. I don't get to play long sessions at night time too often, but Saturday would be one of those nights. Baby #2 is due any day now, and I figured this would be the last oppurtunity in a while to get a nice long session in.

My plan:
- Play in PokerStars crazy $10 rebuy guarenteed $45,000 MTT
- Play in BoDogs $10 MTT guarenteed $7,500 MTT
- Play lots of SNGs

The BoDog one didn't go well. I never got any good cards, and was down to about 700 from the 1000 starting chip stack. Blinds were 50/100, and I look down and see pocket rockets. I raise it up 4X BB from MP. I get one caller. The table chip leader who has about 5000 chips. Flop comes all rags, but with 2 diamonds. I push the rest of my measly chip stack in, and he flips over [Qd] [4d] . Of course another diamond comes on the turn, and I go home now. He called my 4x bet with Q4s?!?!?!

The PS Rebuy was crazy. And not just the poker play. I took the rebuy right away, so I started at 3000 chips. Lots of crazy pushing insued at my table, but I did not partake in any of that. I was getting crap hands. The only hand I played in the first half hour was where I hit top pair with ok kicker, and dropped down to below 1500 when someone had TPTK. I rebought to get back up to 3000. About 45 mins in, I get pocket 10s. I raise, get re-rasied all-in, i call, as does another person. One has JJ, other has 88, and JJ holds up. Double rebuy again. First hour ends, and I am not involved in any other hands. So, for the first hour, I won ZERO hands. I take the add-on, so I get up to 5000 chips, where average stack is 8000.

Hour two was great though! Without the crazy pushing/rebuying going on, I was able to win some nice pots. I doubled up with JJ against a big stacks QT. Won some other nice pots. At the end of hour two, I am up to about 25000 chips. I believe i was in the top 40.

That is when it happened. It was about midnight. In preperation for the new baby, we moved our computer desk from a bedroom upstairs to the living room on the main floor about a month ago. So I can see the front door, and anyone out on the street can see lights on and can tell that someone is awake in there. So at about midnight, I hear a tapping on our front door. At first I ignore it, but again it taps. I go and look out by the front door, and there is someone there. It is our neighbors Mom. She's at least 75, cambodian, doesn't speak english, and has Alzheimers. She's holding a blanket and a pillow. I live in Minnesota, so its cold out. probably about 40 or so. I open the door, and she is jabbering away. Of course I can't understand her. This has happened before. About a year and half ago, she came to our house, and it turned out that she was locked out of her house. The police have also picked her up walking on the highway. So I go get the phone so I can call over to thier house. While I am doing this, she comes right on in, and plops down in the entry way. Of course, no one is picking up the phone over there.

So I go wake up the wife, and have her watch the old lady, and I run over to their house. I ring the doorbell, bang on the door. Nothing. I then check the door, and it is unlocked!! So I go get grandma and bring her back to her house. But she is acting kind of wierd and kept trying to get back out. So now I am having visions of late night TV and there was mass murder there or something, and she is scared to go in there. But I get her to stay, and I decide I better go back home and call the cops.

I get back home, and we call the police. As I am doing this I look out and I see her walking out of the house again! I get off the phone with the cops, and they are going to send someone over. I look back outside, and I can't see her. I have no idea where she went. Maybe out to the highway again? So the police show up and we find her at our other neighbors house sitting on thier porch with her blanket and pillow. We go in the house and the police lady searches the house, and finds no one home!! Except that there are two locked doors upstairs. She then decided she was going to "open" the door upstairs. She gets one of them open, and the ladies 13 year old grand daughter is in there sleeping. She didn't wake up through any of this! not the door bell. Not my pounding. Not the police ladies shouts or pounding. It turns out the Mom and Dad were out, and she was supposed to keep an eye on her grandma!!

So in the meantime, I am getting blinded away. I had almost 30000 chips, and was in the top40-50 for the longest time. I get back, and I am down to about 20000 or so and below average. I ended up losing on a coinflip with JJ against AKs. I also lost the two SNGs I was playing during all of this.

Have you ever heard of the poker gods going to such great length to screw someone over? Well, it was good thing that I was awake. Who knows what would have happened if i wasn't down there playing poker.

So on Sunday, a more powerful God must have had a talking to the poker gods, cause I had awesome results! I played RingNL at BoDog and made over $170!!

On one $25 table, I was up to $160!! In just an hour or so of playing. have you ever heard of someone being more than 6 times the buy-in at a $25 Ring table?

Also won another $15Turbo this morning too. So I think I may have cracked the $1000 mark.

Cheers!

I love $15 Turbo SNGs!

Holy cow! I'm running good in these $15 Turbo SNGs

SNGs played since last post:

$15 Turbo: 1st
$15 Turbo: 1st
$6 Turbo: 2nd
$10: 6th
$6 Turbo 2 tbl: 8th
$15 Turbo: 2nd
$15 Turbo: 1st

A nice little profit of $188.70

Of course the limit poker I played over at bet365 was terrible. 30 minutes, lost $30. man, I hate that site.

The players there seen really good. Do yo uthink it is because it is the beginning of the month, and the only people playing the 1/2 tables are bonus whores who are good at Limit? The tables were so tight aggressive, its scary. Every single hand there is someone that raises. If it folds to the button or CO, like it usually does, they always raise. The only nice pots I've won is where I defended my Blinds aggresively.

First Straight Flush

I've been running pretty good at SNGs the last couple days. Crap in everything else. I am really starting to hate limit poker. There is a post in the bad beat/Low Content Forum about some nasty ones I took at bet365 1/2 limit.

I was tearing up the NL tables at Absolute last week, but have done nothing at the NL tables at Pokerstars this week. Lost a set over set for most of my stack this morning.

Thankfully my SNG games have been offsetting my losses at the ring games.

I've played:
2 $15 Turbos, and placed 2nd in both
2 $10 regulars, and placed 2nd in both
2 $6 Turbos, 3rd place, 9th place
1 $6 Turbo 2 table, 11th place

For a nice profit of $72.30 and a ROI of 98%

The crazy thing is all of those 2nd place finishes, I was a little bit better than a coin flip on the last hand, and lost them all. Oh well.

Also of note, I hit my 1st straight Flush ever this morning. too bad I didn't get paid off. Man, I wish he had the [Ac]. I woulda stacked him
